Purity, cleanliness, freshness and innocence are just a few words which sum up white bedrooms for me. I love white bedding and white curtains in a bedroom. White suits all styles of interiors which is why it's so popular! From sleek contemporary bedrooms with a minimalistic approach to the organised chaos of Shabby Chic, for every interior design style white plays an important role.
White doesn't have to be clinical, flat and lifeless if you add fabrics and materials with different textures. White luxury bedding with embroidered edges, quilts with a machine stitch design and even patchwork made from a variety of different fabrics, silk, velvet, organza etc. will create a striking look.
For me, it's the cool refreshing look that white offers in bedrooms which appeal – along with the fact that they're easy to achieve even on the most modest of budgets. Fresh, clean, cold bedding that you either love or loathe gives us all a tingly feeling as we climb into bed.
White interiors have stood the test of time and while decades ago people had little choice but to use white, because it was the only colour of bed sheets available, there has been a resurgence in the use of white – maybe it's because many of us want to leave chemicals and impurities behind and white allows our consciences to do that.
