White on White In the Dining Room

Who says too much white can look cold and hostile?! I don't thin so, just as long as you choose a variety of fabrics and materials to give a room depth and character. Wall to wall white curtains in lightweight fabrics which are fluid and move with the merest touch of breeze can create a dreamy look to a practical room, such as the dining room.

As we know white is a great way to make a small room look larger and while you may think that all white looks a little reminiscent of a wedding breakfast, and I have to agree to a certain extent, if you add some natural colour in your accessories then you can make the colour work in a home beautifully.

Over-sized vases filled with seasonal flowers is an easy way to make the look work throughout the year; you could also add large rugs to the floor in autumn and winter to add further texture and warmth to the room.

All white interiors maybe on the wane, but for those of us who love the colour for its fresh and stylish looks, there will always be white interior design ideas for us to drool over!

White on White In the Living Room

I have to admit that I love white rooms, not totally white but the vast majority of the room so that I can add pops of colour in my soft furnishings and accessories. I hasten to add that I'm not alone and while too much white can look cold, clinical and hostile, when you have great style it can really give a room the 'wow' factor.

Another great advantage of using white is that it can make even the smallest living rooms look light and airy and the colour suits all styles of homes. From a French inspired chateau, Scandinavian classics, to modern and contemporary styles. You can also use white to create a stunning Shabby Chic interior which is packed full of different textures and materials.

White curtains, especially if they're full length and lightweight will ensure as much light as possible can enter your living room during the day; alternatively white vertical blinds will give you sleek clean lines which suit contemporary homes perfectly. For the ultimate window dressing use a combination of white curtains and white blinds so that your windows look stunning day and night.

Don't shy away from using white as it has a lot to offer, and it doesn't have to be cold if you get the balance just right!

White on White In the Bathroom

Classy, stylish and beautiful is an understatement for a contemporary styled bathroom which is large, spacious and to be honest the type of bathroom most of us dream of! However, my love for white makes this bathroom special, and even though I'm not sure about the little crocodile (or alligator?) it does add a touch of fun to the large expanse of plain flooring.

The use of green foliage plants in contemporary bathrooms takes us into the realms of dreams, peace and tranquillity. No doubt this style of bathroom has Feng Shi qualities included, but for me one of the most prominent features is the wall of glass and the abundance of natural light flooding into the room giving it a surreal feeling of open spaces associated with being outside.

With windows or glass walls this size privacy is an issue which needs to be addressed without detracting from the style and minimalist style. White curtains would give a bathroom this size a soft look with a subtle touch of femininity; however, if it's only light control and privacy needed then white vertical blinds would look just as stylish. In high-tech contemporary bathrooms, remote controlled vertical blinds are a 'must' – it goes without saying really!

White on White In the Bedroom

Purity, cleanliness, freshness and innocence are just a few words which sum up white bedrooms for me. I love white bedding and white curtains in a bedroom. White suits all styles of interiors which is why it's so popular! From sleek contemporary bedrooms with a minimalistic approach to the organised chaos of Shabby Chic, for every interior design style white plays an important role.

White doesn't have to be clinical, flat and lifeless if you add fabrics and materials with different textures. White luxury bedding with embroidered edges, quilts with a machine stitch design and even patchwork made from a variety of different fabrics, silk, velvet, organza etc. will create a striking look.

For me, it's the cool refreshing look that white offers in bedrooms which appeal – along with the fact that they're easy to achieve even on the most modest of budgets. Fresh, clean, cold bedding that you either love or loathe gives us all a tingly feeling as we climb into bed.

White interiors have stood the test of time and while decades ago people had little choice but to use white, because it was the only colour of bed sheets available, there has been a resurgence in the use of white – maybe it's because many of us want to leave chemicals and impurities behind and white allows our consciences to do that.
