As well as moving up and using empty
attic space many people extend their homes by adding a new room on
the back – this is increasingly evident on terraced styled homes
which are long and thin. In the past these Victorian homes had
bathrooms added to the back of the house, however, today the
bathrooms are being placed upstairs, usually in a spare bedroom for
convenience and easy access, while downstairs the space is being used
to extend kitchens or turn kitchens into open living kitchen-diners.
One of the most popular choices is to
use a conservatory styled roof so that as much light as possible can
be guided into the space and back into the house – without this
style of roof the original kitchens can become extremely dark and
gloomy. However, if the back of the house is south facing it can
become extremely hot and unbearable without some form of inside glass
covering – Velux blinds are the ideal solution and now you can
choose between roller skylight blinds or Venetian skylight blinds –
for ease of use and practicality I think I'd prefer to have the
Venetian style so that I could adjust the louvres according to how
sunny and hot the day is!
